Privacy policy

This page explains what information Pond.com ("Pond", "we" or "us") collects, how we use it and the choices you have. In short: you can use Pond without telling us who you are, we don't have user accounts, and we never sell your personal information.

What we collect

  • When you visit, we may record technical details such as your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you view, when you view them and the page you came from. We use these to keep the site secure, understand how the site is used and fix problems.
  • When you search the site, we record what you searched for, without anything that identifies you, so we can see what readers are looking for.
  • If you sign up for seasonal tips, we keep your email address and when and where you signed up, so we can send them and show that you agreed.
  • If you email us, we receive your email address and message, and use them only to reply.

Cookies

Cookies are small files your browser stores. We use a few essential cookies to keep the site working and secure. Our advertising and affiliate partners may also use cookies, as described below. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, but some parts of the site, like the sign-up form, may not work without the essential ones.

Advertising

Pond is free because of advertising and partnerships. We work with advertising partners, currently including Google AdSense. They may use cookies and similar technologies to show ads, measure how ads perform, limit how often you see the same ad, prevent fraud and, where you allow it, show ads based on your interests.

You can learn more in how Google uses information from sites that use its services and manage ad personalization in Google's ad settings.

Some links, offers and tools on Pond, whether built by us or provided by others, involve partners such as retailers and service providers. If you click through, sign up or buy, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Partners may use a cookie or the link itself to record that you came from Pond, and tools provided by a partner may collect information directly under their own privacy policy. We don't give partners your personal information. If you choose to share information with a partner, for example by applying or signing up, their own privacy policy applies.

Your ad choices

If you're in the European Economic Area, the UK or Switzerland, Google asks for your consent before ads are personalized, and you can change your ad choices at any time. If you live in a US state with consumer privacy laws, such as California, you can opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of your information for targeted ads using the "Do not sell or share my personal information" link shown on Pond in those states.

How long we keep information

We keep sign-up details until you unsubscribe and emails for as long as we need them to reply. Technical records and server logs are kept only as long as we need them.

Your rights

You can unsubscribe from seasonal tips at any time using the link in any email. Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to see, correct or delete the information we hold about you. To ask, contact us.

Children

Pond is a general audience site and isn't directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

We'll update this page if our practices change. The date at the bottom shows when it was last updated.
